The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo was announced at Sony Ericsson’s press conference before Mobile World Congress last night, and it’s quite the looker. In fact, if you pledge allegiance to Sony E but don’t think you can afford the gorgeous Xperia Arc due out next month, it looks like the way to go. Read on for the photos.
Like the Arc and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo runs a slightly modded version of Android 2.3, but it does so on a slightly smaller 3.7-inch 854×480 screen. It’s still got all the fancy screen tech included however such as HDMI-out and Sony’s Mobile Bravia engine for rendering your video clips like its TVs.
Best Android apps of all time: Top 100
At 116×57×13mm, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo is actually quite a bit thicker than the anorexic Xperia Arc, but for many people it and its 8MP camera should prove more than enough. It’s out before the end of March in black, red and silver finishes.

It seems not a single day goes by without there being more ‘Geohot Vs Sony‘ lawsuit news these days, and here’s the latest. According to Wired, Geohot (or George Hotz to his Mother) has been ordered to provide Sony with his computer’s hard drive by U.S. District Judge Susan Illston.
The whole sordid affair is related to Sony suing the 21 year old hacker after he successfully hacked the PlayStation 3 and made the tools available online. Obviously Sony were none-too-pleased by the Robin Hood act and took steps to put an end to it. The hard drive request is the next step in proceedings.
Geohot’s attorney, Stewart Kellar did try to block to move, but got short shrift from Illston.
“Here, I find probable cause that your client has got these things on his computer,” she said. “It’s a problem when more than one thing is kept on the computer. I’ll make sure the order is and will be that Sony is only entitled to isolate … the information on the computer that relates to the hacking of the PlayStation.”
Of course nobody knows what information, code or otherwise Sony will be looking for or indeed what they will find when they are let loose with the drive in question, but I think it’s probably fair to say they aren’t looking for cooking recipes. Either way, this could end up being a pivotal moment for the PS3 hacking scene.
